OF RACE

Organizing Authority: Wynyard Yacht Club in conjunction with the Tasmanian Sabot Sailing Association
All races will be governed by the 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the special regulations of Yachting Australia, the rules of the Sabot class, (except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions) and by the sailing instructions.
2.1 The regatta is open only to boats of the Sabot class, which are registered with the TSSA. Sailors are reminded that all boats will need a current season’s Silver card to compete.
2.2 A sailing season is between July 1st and June 30th in the following year.
2.3 Racing will be in three divisions.
2.4 Junior division is open to skippers who are a maximum of 12 years of age or whose 12th birthday falls in the current sailing season, sailing two up.
2.5 Senior division is open to skippers who are of an age between 13 and 15, or whose 16th birthday falls during the current sailing season, sailing one up.
2.6 Development division is open to both junior and senior skippers who wish to receive coaching support and encouragement throughout the race. Development division is intended to provide a supported pathway for in-experienced skippers to develop confidence to race in either the Junior or Senior divisions.
2.7 Junior sailors (para 3.3) whose 12th birthday falls in the current sailing season have the option of sailing as a one up senior, but having sailed as a one up Senior can not return sailing as a two up Junior
2.8 Eligible boats may enter on the attached entry from which shall be lodged with the TSSA Secretary by 1100 hours on the first day of the regatta accompanied by the required fee.

No warning signal will be made after 1300 hours on the last day of racing, and on other days no warning signal will be made after 1500 hours.
5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available after 0930 hours on the first day of the regatta at the host club.
The racing area will be in Bass Straight in the vicinity of the mouth of the Inglis River. If conditions prevent racing in Bass Straight the Inglis River may be used.
Courses will be consisting of triangle and windward-return legs and of a length suitable for completion in a time frame of approximately 35 minutes as described in the sailing instructions.
8.1 The Low Point scoring system, Rule A2, will apply to each division.
8.2 Seven races are scheduled of which two races shall be completed to constitute a series. If four or more races are completed there shall be one discard, if less than four races are completed there shall be no discards.
Prizes will be awarded to placegetters, at the discretion of the TSSA.
10 QUALIFICATION FOR FURTHER EVENTS
This event is one of several that accumulate points towards selection (in accordance with the TSSA selection guidelines) for the team to represent Tasmania at the Australian National Sabot Championships in Wynyard..
11 CANTEEN
Breakfast and lunchtime canteen facilities will be available at the host club on both days of the regatta. A social function will be held on the Saturday evening along with a fireworks display in the vicinity of the Wharf.
